What we know is the desk role
The labor Armor-san runs the job desk.
Someone at a desk can easily look like a person who decides everything. After all, that's who the workers get to talk to. But is the role of hearing people out the same as the role of changing the rules?
Telling, choosing, deciding: pulling them apart
Even at school, the person who passes on a set schedule isn't necessarily the person who changes it. At a job desk too: do they only pass on the rules, can they make calls on the spot, or can they make the rules themselves? Looking at those separately lets us follow who decided what.
This distinction matters to me because it changes who you can turn to when you're in trouble. Even a kind desk worker might not be able to raise your pay. On the other hand, there may be times when that person can help you with a call of their own.
Where do problems end up?
If you're turned down, can you ask why? Can you talk to someone else? Not just whether there's a desk, I want to know where you can go after something goes wrong.
What got decided at the desk, and what didn't? In future stories, I'd like to follow those answers.
