A shopping run is important help, too
Chiikawa and Hachiware look after Shisa, who is feeling unwell. Chiikawa is asked to go shopping for supplies.
A shopping run is help, too. When you're sick, even one fewer errand to go out for seems like it would help. Worry for someone turns into doing things in their place.
Turning feelings into what you can do
One who stays by their side, and one who gets what's needed. Rather than one person doing everything, there's help that becomes possible when errands are split up. Instead of comparing who is kindest, looking at who took on what shows what the caregiving actually involved.
The fact that the shopping is asked for also stands out to me. Telling others what needs doing might also be a step toward accepting help.
Helpers have lives of their own
The people who help have their own things to do, too. They can't always help.
When I'm worried about someone, which errands could I take on? The two friends' caregiving makes me think about that. Not just the words you offer, I think what you can help with matters too.

- What changes when Chiikawa passes the weeding exam?Chiikawa weeded even before earning Level 5. The change we can confirm after passing is that the bag of pay grows a little heavier. The manga does not show who decided how much that little increase would be.
- What do you do when only your friend passes?Even if you can't feel the same way right away, there's still something you can do. Thinking it through from the walk home after the weeding certification exam and a celebration scene.
- Why was the invitation to the island so tempting?Everyday work turns into a special trip. The island story begins with the words of an invitation and the faces reading it.
- How did Chiikawa get their house?Chiikawa's house was won in a prize drawing. From the story of the house, I think about a kind of life that effort alone can't explain.
