Why is Chiikawa read in places like China, too?

A fan in Shanghai was reported as saying that, amid busy workdays, Chiikawa living alongside friends is soothing. It's one person's voice, but it shows that readers overseas read it that way too.

More than whether someone is from the same country, what overlapped with their own everyday life? I'd love to hear more about that.

Chiikawa's popularity is reported to have spread to China, Taiwan, South Korea, and elsewhere. One analysis says it matched a mood of seeking comfort as economic growth slowed and competition grew fiercer.

However, that's one view, not the feelings of everyone in those regions. Surely some people love the look and others love the conversations. A few voices can't be made into everyone's answer.
